private 4D scanning service for you to be able to see your baby in detail.

What is 4D or 3D scanning?
A 3D scan is a still three-dimensional image of your baby. A 4D scan is a moving 3D image enabling us to capture a video recording of your baby’s movement and facial expressions inside the womb.
How is the scan performed?
The scan is done in the same way as the other routine ultrasound scans undertaken during your pregnancy (such as dating, nuchal or anatomy scans). It simply uses a slightly different probe to enable us to collect a 3D image or 4D video.
How much is the package?
Our 4D scanning package is competitively priced at £99
You may be pleased to know that all profits are returned to the Maternity Unit and the Trust to fund improvements for the benefit all of pregnant women using our services.
What is included in the package?
With each 45 minute appointment, we will perform a 4D ultrasound scan of your baby to obtain the best video images possible.
You will be able to access your HD scan online via our secure portal. This will be available to download for up to 7 days after your appointment. If you have any queries after this time, please contact the team.
When is the best time for the scan?
We recommend that a 4D scan is undertaken between 26-32 weeks of pregnancy. This is because the baby is more developed by this time and it is usually a little easier to obtain good views. You do not need a full bladder for our 4D scans. When you book your scan, we will ask for your gestation or due date to ensure that we have the best chance of getting a good image.
What if you can’t get a good picture?
Sometimes, despite our best efforts, your baby may not be lying in an ideal position to obtain a good image. If this is the case we will happily arrange a second appointment to try again, free of charge.
Where is it done?
We are located within the Maternity Assessment Centre (MAC) of Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust, so you can be assured that we are able to provide you with any necessary on-going care if required.
The scan is conducted by a qualified Midwife-Sonographer who will be pleased to welcome you to our unit and talk you through the scanning procedure and any of your pregnancy questions, to put your mind at rest and give you the first-class experience.

Meet Megan
My name is Megan and I‘m a qualified midwife of nearly 10 years. I have a great mix of working on delivery suite and providing a scan clinic for women requiring a growth assessment for their baby. It is especially lovely when I get to scan women who I meet again either during labour or after they‘ve had a baby. A 3D/4D scan is extra special, I love seeing the happy faces of parents and families who see their baby’s face for the first time. Besides my love of midwifery, I love to travel the world. I enjoy scrolling on Skyscanner and finding cheap flights to new places! I have recently returned from a 3 month break from work to travel the world with my husband. Everyone asks me if I’m sad to be back to work but I absolutely love my job. I can’t wait to meet you all and provide you with this special experience.

- If the patient is under 16 years of age they must attend with a consenting adult.
- This service is available for single pregnancies only.
- We ask that a maximum of 2 guests attend with the patient. Young children should be supervised by an additional adult that is not the patient.
- All booking and consent forms must be fully completed.
- Payment will be taken at the time of booking, once confirmed this fee will be non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances.
- Personal Photography and videos will not be permitted in the clinic.
- We recommend that you attend your antenatal services provided by the NHS, our service does not replace this and should be used as an additional extra only.

- Please allow sufficient time to travel and park. Please let the clinic know if you are running late for your appointment on privatebabyscan@nhs.net your appointment may need to not be able to take place if you are later than 15 minutes and you may still be charged.
Disclaimer
- The best 4D images can be achieved between 26 – 32 weeks.
- Ultrasound scanning is a screening tool and it cannot detect all abnormalities. However, if an abnormality is detected, your sonographer will discuss their findings with you and give you a report that you will be able to give to your healthcare provider or arrange a follow up with your obstetric team.
- 4D ultrasound scanning is baby led, meaning that the images may vary for multiple reasons. This could be due to the baby’s position or body mass index. If we are struggling to achieve an image we will invite you back for a complimentary re-scan, at the discretion of the Lead Sonographer.
- We recommend that you attend your antenatal services provided by the NHS, our service does not replace this and should be used as an additional extra only.
Cancellation Policy
- Payment will be taken at the time of booking, once confirmed this fee will be non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances.
- Any missed appointments or cancellations will result in the full service charge.
- You will receive an automatic email after booking, and a separate email once you have made payment. This will serve as your payment receipt.
- We reserve the right to change the details of our services – however any changes will be discussed with you before you attend your appointment.
