Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist
I am a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist, specialising in complex gastrointestinal problems, advanced endoscopy, liver diseases and inflammatory bowel diseases. I perform over 500 endoscopic procedures a year. I have extensive experience in colonoscopies, particularly in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
I underwent medical training in India, qualified in 1990 and went onto do a MD in General Medicine. I came to Britain in 1995. I did my specialist training in Gastroenterology in Yorkshire, having worked in Leeds, York, Hull and Pontefract. I spent over two years on the liver transplant unit at St James University Hospital, Leeds, where I developed my special interest in liver diseases.
I started as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, in 2004. During this time in Wakefield, I have held various managerial posts including the Head of Service for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. As the clinical lead for Gastroenterology for Wakefield CCG, I was actively involved with developing gastroenterology services across Wakefield and North Kirklees districts. I am actively involved in various national and multinational research projects, particularly in inflammatory bowel diseases.
